My favorite part of playing MLB was preparing for the season. I did traditional weight training, but my repertoire also included early morning swims in the Pacific, pickup hoops, football and much more. Sprinkle that with my love for quality, flavorful food and a passion for how nutrition affects performance and you’ve got a man devoted to the manifestation of supreme health and well being.
Over the course of my baseball career and since, my teammates and loved ones have asked me about my training and eating habits. I’ve doled out single servings of counsel and had some follow up therapy sessions with my peeps, but I have always desired a more universal platform to share the culinary creations and deliciously challenging training sessions currently inspiring me.
So here we are. On this blog, I’ll share what’s working for me, what’s not and what might work for you. I’ll pass along tidbits from what I read and learn from pro athletes, current and former. I’ll write often in an effort to fully connect with you.
One thing I know is that depriving yourself of reckless indulgences isn’t advised. Balance between pleasure and pain is essential to peace of mind and body; we can walk that line together.
