Don’t go into the restaurant business if you’re not ready to compete with the baddest on earth. If you’re aiming to build the perfect food/coffee/bar business, look no further than Lux in Phoenix, AZ. It’s the Sugar Ray Robinson of dining options. Pound for pound, it’s the best Phoenix has to offer.
If you’ve been following this blog, you know I rarely write traditional restaurant reviews. That’s generally because I don’t encounter establishments with enough all around power and strength to inspire me to share. Additionally, I try to experience new flavors, textures and atmospheres. I find myself seeking fresh, unique environments rather than going back for seconds.
With Lux, I keep returning to the well. For the second day straight I strolled into the laid back, versatile powerhouse and sat at the bar for breakfast on my way to the ballpark. My dude (behaving like an owner) behind the counter remembered exactly what I had ordered the day prior and brought strong energy to our interaction. With prompt service and flawless execution, my experience was duplicated with extraordinary flavors and textures in a simple meal. Organic steel cut oats, a farmer’s scramble with high quality produce, deeply rich black coffee, served super-hot…a perfect breakfast.
Those two meals, even on back-to-back mornings, are not solely why Lux rules.
Come at night for a meal and a glass of wine, and the punches are delivered with equal efficiency and grace. I’ve now visited no fewer than 8 times. From steaks to exquisitely prepared veggies to a wide variety of scotches, you’re covered no matter your bag.
Few establishments tick all of the boxes in an environment that feels uplifting and relaxing simultaneously. Even fewer do so while creating a vibe where pulling out a laptop to work also feels appropriate.
I recognize that only a handful of you will ever strut into Lux. That’s okay. This post is about a badass fighter, and I’m glad to celebrate his virtues.
Strong mind,
Kap
